The Rainier Highlanders Junior Rugby Club is a volunteer run organization based in south King and Pierce Counties. We currently provide opportunities for youth in grades 1-12 from communities spanning Tacoma to Enumclaw, and Kent to Eatonville. We are a member club of USA Rugby and Rugby Washington. Our Board’s mission is to foster an environment that inspires young athletes, coaches, parents and the community to collectively create a positive and spirited atmosphere.
Rugby is a very challenging sport. It embodies the characteristics of teamwork, respect for diversity, commitment, physical fitness and mental toughness. To develop and maintain these traits and behaviors, all our coaches are required to be nationally certified, as well as take refresher courses each season. This ensures that they are focused and capable to use sport to teach life lessons and to honor the game.
As a non-affiliated school sport, we do not receive funding from any districts or other government entities. Our operating costs are considerable and are funded from membership fees, fundraising, donations, and support from sponsors. We have a senior club partner, Valley Rugby Club, who incorporates our youth club in their 501(c)(3) non -profit exempt profile. This allows us to provide sponsors the opportunity to be eligible for a tax-deductible donation.
Should you be interested in formally supporting our club with a donation, please review the attached options to see how we recognize our sponsors. Since the club’s inception in 2008, we have aimed at giving kids the opportunity to join, regardless of their family’s financial background. Our generous sponsors have allowed us to keep membership fees affordable to all and not exclude those less fortunate kids.
If helpful, any of our Board members would be happy to meet with you individually to share the goals, values, and stories of our athletes. The entire club thanks you for considering a donation as we endeavor to keep kids active, engaged, and developing skillsets which will serve them well on and off the pitch.
