Rainier Junior Rugby (RJR) is always looking for potential coaches regardless of any rugby knowledge and or past coaching experience or not.
All costs associated with coaching courses and or registration fees are reimbursable by the club. All positions are voluntary. We encourage you to review the principal criteria to qualify and function as a successful RJR Coach. Essential Responsibilities
- Mandatory background check administered thru USA Rugby
- Complete Mandatory Online Certification Course (Non Contact Rugby)
- Complete Mandatory Online & 1 day Classroom Certification Course (Contact Rugby)
- Attend and manage weekly practices & games (exceptions always for unforeseen
- circumstances)
- Accountable for club provided equipment
- Attend periodic club coaching staff meetings
- Communicate in-conjunction with team manager with parents
- Willingness to avoid any discrimination or favoritism among team members
Essential Characteristics & Expectations
- Dependable / On-time
- Willing to work with team coaches and managers to adhere and nurture the RJR goals and mission.
- Temperament and patience suitable for coaching beginner rugby players with mixed athletic abilities
- Able to work and communicate effectively with other club coaches to meet the club goals and expectations
- Respect and abide by game day referee instructions, guidelines and rulings.
- Abide by expectations, ethics and codes of conduct created by RJR, Rugby WA and USA Rugby
- Ability to resolve and manage parental concerns and or complaints with support and guidance from club President or senior coaches
U10 Coed Non Contact Teams
This is an ideal opportunity for a parent or other interested party to get involved in coaching a simplistic version of rugby. Having any rugby playing experience is not a necessity and with the support of our coaching staff and online coaching education a non player could fulfill this role.
This level of rugby will require the Head Coach to have some rugby playing experience however an Assistant Coach role could be fulfilled by a non player willing to dedicate some time to familiarizing themselves with the rules and skills required to help in the player development process. (same as U14 Grade Boys Team )
This level of rugby will require the Head Coach to have some rugby playing experience however an Assistant Coach role could be fulfilled by a non player willing to dedicate some time to familiarizing themselves with the rules and skills required to help in the player development process. (same as U12 Coed Team )
Prospective coaches for this level of rugby will require to have a limited understanding of the game and have some playing experience. Some coaching experience in youth rugby or any youth sports is an advantage but not a requirement.
